Lot 458 Elica aeronautica per motore Bristol Jupiter XI F
Regno Unito, anni '30 (h. cm 359) (difetti)
-EN
Aircraft propeller for Bristol Jupiter XI F engine. United Kingdom, 1930s (h. 359 cm) (defects)
Laminated wooden propeller with brass-covered leading edge, painted grey-green around the hub area. Numerous markings are present: JUPITER XI F, HP 42, DRG No Z289/5; on the opposite side D3590 (diameter), P3200 (pitch), AC42633A, APL/36 and IAL 823.
The inscription JUPITER XI F identifies compatibility with the Bristol Jupiter XI F radial engine, one of the most widely used British aircraft engines of the late 1920s and early 1930s, employed on numerous military and civilian aircraft.
The marking HP 42 most likely refers to the famous Handley Page H.P.42, a four-engine Imperial Airways transport aircraft introduced in 1931 and equipped with Bristol Jupiter engines. Although definitive attribution requires comparison with the manufacturers production records, the markings and construction features are consistent with a propeller intended for this family of engines. -
