Il Penang Turf Club, fondato nel 1864 nell'allora colonia britannica degli Straits Settlements, è il più antico circolo ippico della Malesia e uno dei più prestigiosi dell'Asia. Istituita per celebrare l'inizio del XX secolo, la Century Cup figurava tra i principali premi del January Meeting del 1901. Realizzato da Carrington & Co. a Londra nel 1899, il presente trofeo è relativo alla prima edizione della competizione e testimonia il prestigio delle corse ippiche nell'ambito dell'Impero britannico in Estremo Oriente

The Penang Turf Club, founded in 1864 in the former British colony of the Straits Settlements, is the oldest racing club in Malaysia and one of the most prestigious in Asia. Established to commemorate the beginning of the twentieth century, the Century Cup was among the principal prizes of the January Meeting of 1901. Made by Carrington & Co. in London in 1899, the present trophy relates to the first edition of the competition and bears witness to the prestige of horse racing within the British Empire in the Far East
