Gli studiosi ed esperti che hanno studiato l'opera convergono che essa sia del tardo Quattrocento. Alcuni di loro la riconducono ad Agostino Fonduli, scultore e architetto attivo a Padova, Milano, Piacenza e Crema tra il XV e il XVI secolo. Altri alla scuola bolognese, capeggiata da Guido Mazzoni e Niccolò dell'Arca, più precisamente a Vincenzo Onofri, attivo tra il 1493 e il 1524, esecutore di opere d'arte sacra in terracotta.

Scholars and experts who have studied the work agree that it dates to the late 15th century and attribute it either to Agostino Fonduli, a sculptor and architect active in Padua, Milan, Piacenza, and Crema between the 15th and 16th centuries, or to the Bolognese school led by Guido Mazzoni and Niccolò dell’Arca, more specifically to Vincenzo Onofri, active between 1493 and 1524, known for executing sacred terracotta works of art.
