Lot 81 Collection of ritual and votive phallic images
South and East Asia, 19th century
A collection of five ritual phallic scultpures from various Asian cultural traditions, crafted in marble, wood, terracotta, stone, and horn. Of particular note is a rare specimen carved from dark horn, finely engraved and adorned with gold inscriptions in Siddham script, containing apotropaic invocations.

Lot 82 Khik Bhalad, large ritual phallus carved in wood
Thailand, 19th century
A sculptural apotropaic object of unusual size, linked to Thai folk tradition, crafted from a single block of fine black hardwood. Known locally as khik bhalad, this object is part of devotional offerings dedicated to the goddess Chao Mae Tubtim, the deity of fertility and generation. Objects of this nature were kept near informal shrines or placed in propitious locations with the purpose of attracting abundance, promoting reproductive health, protecting against malevolent influences, and ensuring the prosperity of the harvest.
