An independent builder’s vision of medieval life became an official set through LEGO Ideas. Based on a concept by fan designer Clemens Fiedler, Medieval Blacksmith brings a craftsman’s workshop and home together in a 2,164-piece model with 4 minifigures. Its timber-framed walls, detailed roof and furnished rooms give the building a character that extends beyond the forge itself.
The workshop’s most engaging detail is its glowing fire: pressing the bellows activates a light brick beneath the coals. Above it, a kitchen and bedroom reveal the domestic side of the blacksmith’s world, accessible through removable upper floors. Two Black Falcon knights add a connection to LEGO’s Castle heritage, while a horse-drawn cart completes the scene. Now retired, the set captures the appeal of Ideas: a fan’s personal enthusiasm translated into a distinctive model for a wider community of builders.
