La coppa fu istituita quale premio del Ledbury Christmas Show, tradizionale esposizione agricola organizzata a Ledbury, nell'Herefordshire (Inghilterra), in occasione delle manifestazioni natalizie dedicate all'allevamento. Il trofeo, donato da Mr. A. G. Parmee, era destinato alla categoria "Best Bunch of Four Fat Cattle", ossia al miglior gruppo di quattro bovini da ingrasso, una delle competizioni più prestigiose nelle fiere zootecniche britanniche del periodo

The cup was established as a prize for the Ledbury Christmas Show, a traditional agricultural exhibition held in Ledbury, Herefordshire (England), as part of the Christmas events dedicated to livestock breeding.
