In the database of the Netherlands Institute for Art History RKD, I found
that this painting was auctioned in Brussels at Georges Giroux auction
house on 5 March 1928, lot 41, as Dutch school. In the same year, I
presume after the sale, it was in the Singer collection in Prague, with
an attribution to Christoffel van der Lamen. On the mount at the RKD,
it was noted that the scholar Cornelis Hofstede de Groot had suggested
an attribution to Anthonie Palamedes. That is a good indication, in my
opinion, but judging from the photos, the quality of the execution is not
that of Palamedes himself. [...] In my opinion, the painting is best catalogues as by a (seventeenth-century) follower of Anthonie Palamedes.
