The cup was awarded at the 1937 Butlin's Skegness Carnival, an event held at the celebrated holiday camp at Skegness, inaugurated by Billy (W.E.) Among the highlights of the programme were beauty contests, parades and entertainments, often organised in collaboration with leading regional newspapers to promote the resort and attract visitors from across the United Kingdom. In this context, the cup was presented, under the patronage of the Yorkshire Telegraph and Star, to Miss Ruby Gray, who was crowned "Miss Yorkshire" during the 1937 carnival. La Hill Cup fu istituita come premio delle Maze Races, storiche corse ippiche disputate presso Maze, nei pressi di Lisburn, tra le più antiche d'Irlanda. The Hill Cup was established as the prize for the Maze Races, the historic horse races held at Maze, near Lisburn, among the oldest in Ireland. The South Western Counties Football Association, established in the early 1890s, organised one of the principal regional competitions in south-western Scotland, reserved for clubs from the historic counties of Dumfriesshire, Kirkcudbrightshire and Wigtownshire. The tournament was founded in 1891 to replace the earlier Churchill Cup, rapidly becoming the most prestigious knockout competition in the area and contributing to the development of organised Scottish football during a crucial phase in its expansion. The present trophy, made in 1894, belongs to the early years of the competition and represents a rare material testimony to Scottish football at the end of the nineteenth century.

Jeanne Vicard-Mayonnade (1885-1967)
Born Jeanne Anne Marguerite Mayonnade in Monpazier, Dordogne, she married Antoine Marie Alphonse Vicard in 1922. She was an exceptional French textile artist and embroiderer associated with the Lyon region, renowned for her Art Nouveau-style creations.

Il Beaufort Hunt Cup era una delle principali competizioni organizzate dal Beaufort Hunt, storico club inglese patrocinato dai Duchi di Beaufort. Disputata sul percorso di Sherston (Wiltshire), la gara rientrava nel circuito delle tradizionali hunt steeple chases, corse a ostacoli strettamente legate al mondo della caccia alla volpe. L'iscrizione ricorda la vittoria del 3 aprile 1909 di Seabreeze IV, cavallo appartenente, allenato e montato dal proprietario Stanley Berry, esempio della consuetudine degli owner-riders che caratterizzava questo genere di competizioni.

The Beaufort Hunt Cup was one of the principal competitions organised by the Beaufort Hunt, the historic English club patronised by the Dukes of Beaufort. Held over the Sherston course (Wiltshire), the race formed part of the traditional hunt steeplechase circuit, a type of obstacle race closely associated with the world of fox hunting. The inscription records the victory of Seabreeze IV on 3 April 1909, a horse owned, trained and ridden by its owner Stanley Berry, an example of the owner-rider tradition that characterised this type of competition.
