Il trofeo fu realizzato per il Trinidad Turf Club, il principale circolo ippico di Trinidad, fondato nel XIX secolo e organizzatore delle più importanti riunioni di corse dell'isola. L'iscrizione "Xmas Meeting 1933" rimanda al tradizionale meeting natalizio, uno degli appuntamenti di maggior prestigio del calendario ippico coloniale britannico nei Caraibi, che richiamava proprietari, allevatori e appassionati provenienti da tutto l'arcipelago

The trophy was made for the Trinidad Turf Club, the principal racing club of Trinidad, founded in the nineteenth century and organiser of the island's most important horse racing meetings. The inscription "Xmas Meeting 1933" refers to the traditional Christmas meeting, one of the most prestigious events in the calendar of British colonial horse racing in the Caribbean, attracting owners, breeders and racing enthusiasts from throughout the archipelago.
