A supporto della tesi attributiva si osserva la caratteristica alba sullo sfondo e l'uccello in basso al centro con la testa penzolante, vere e proprie peculiarità dell'artista
Una copia di questo dipinto, di eguale disegno, di differenti misure, descritta come natura morta con cacciagione e risalente al XVIII/XIX secolo, è comparsa all'asta di Cambi dal 3 al 17 aprile 2024. Questo dettaglio sottolinea l'apprezzamento che il dipinto ebbe nei secoli passati.
I suoi dati biografici sono piuttosto scarni. Dopo aver appreso l’arte pittorica, iniziò a operare ad Anversa. In seguito si trasferì a Roma dove trovò fortuna grazie a Camillo Pamphilj, appassionato cacciatore e collezionista di nature morte a tema venatorio. Gli studi condotti da Eduard Alexandr Safarik ci indicano che le sue opere apparivano negli inventari dei Corsini, dei Colonna e degli Imperiali.

The attribution is supported by the characteristic dawn scene in the background and the bird at the bottom centre with its head drooping, both of which are distinctive features of the artist’s style.
A copy of this painting, with the same composition but different dimensions, described as Still Life with Game and dating from the 18th/19th century, appeared at auction at Cambi from 3 to 17 April 2024. This detail highlights the esteem in which the painting was held in past centuries.
