ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P Laureate head r.; Rv. PHOE[NI]CE Phoenicia standing l., with l. foot on prow, holding jewelled crown and sceptre; palm tree to r., COS – II /S – C across field. RIC 587; Cohen 596; BMCRE 1195 = Banti 266. Mottled brown and green patina. Some areas of flatness on the reverse, otherwise extremely fine. Expressive portrait of elegant style. Very rare type.
