Il profeta Daniele che svela a Ciro gli inganni dei sacerdoti di Bel

Nel Libro di Daniele vi è un apologo contro il culto degli idoli nel quale si racconta che, quando Ciro il Persiano divenne re dei babilonesi, incontrò il Profeta Daniele. A quei tempi, il popolo venerava l'idolo Bel e gli offriva libagioni in un tempio. Daniele smascherò l'inganno sfidando il re a sigillare le porte del tempio, lasciando le offerte intatte e cospargendo farina sul pavimento. Il giorno successivo, all'apertura dei sigilli, dimostrò che il cibo era stato consumato dai sacerdoti che si introducevano nottetempo per banchettare attraverso una botola, traditi dalle proprie impronte nella farina.
Fu allievo di Carlo Bellosio e si distinse per una produzione orientata a soggetti storici e religiosi.

In the Book of Daniel, there is an apologue against the worship of idols which tells that, when Cyrus the Persian became king of the Babylonians, he encountered the Prophet Daniel. At that time, the people venerated the idol Bel and offered libations to it in a temple. Daniel exposed the deception by challenging the king to seal the temple doors, leaving the offerings untouched and scattering flour across the floor. The following day, when the seals were opened, he proved that the food had been consumed by the priests, who had secretly entered during the night to feast through a trapdoor, betrayed by their own footprints in the flour.
