Ad un attento esame del dipinto, la condotta narrativa arricchita dall'elegante plasticità delle gesta e, soprattutto, dalle figure bislunghe fa propendere l'attribuzione a Gaetano Zompini. Grazie alla sua sapiente interpretazione personale dei maestri veneti del suo tempo, come S. Ricci, G.B. Pittoni e F. Fontebasso, di cui si legge traccia nel presente dipinto, fu uno degli interpreti della pittura Rococò in terraferma veneta.
Gaetano Zompini giunse a Venezia diciassettenne e frequentò la bottega di Nicolò Bambini, anche se la sua fonte d’ispirazione furono Sebastiano Ricci, Francesco Fontebasso e Giovanni Battista Pittoni. Negli anni '30 e '40 la sua attività fu legata alle commissioni chiesastiche veneziane e del trevigiano, anche se progressivamente si dedicò a inventare soggetti per acqueforti

A close examination of the painting suggests attribution to Gaetano Zompini, based on its narrative approach enriched by the elegant plasticity of the gestures and, above all, by the elongated figures. Through his skilful personal interpretation of the Venetian masters of his time, such as S. Ricci, G.B. Pittoni and F. Fontebasso, traces of whose influence can be seen in the present work, he was one of the interpreters of Rococo painting in the Venetian mainland.
