Il trofeo fu assegnato nel 1933 in occasione del National Open Hurdles Sweepstakes, una delle competizioni britanniche dedicate alle corse a ostacoli per levrieri, specialità introdotta nei cinodromi inglesi nei primi anni Trenta come variante spettacolare delle tradizionali gare di velocità. Le prove si disputavano su brevi distanze con piccoli ostacoli distribuiti lungo il percorso e richiedevano ai cani, oltre alla velocità, agilità e precisione

The Model Engineer Exhibition, organised in London by the British magazine *The Model Engineer*, was one of the principal international events dedicated to engineering and naval modelling. The Championship Cup was awarded to the finest sailing ship model entered in the competition, recognising excellence in design, historical accuracy and the quality of execution of the exhibited models. The cup bears witness to the prestige achieved by British naval modelling in the 1930s and to the importance of the exhibition as a reference point for enthusiasts and specialised model makers.
