Roman Marble Head of a Woman, 1st century BC - 1st century AD; height (with wooden support) cm 16,8; height cm 21. An elegant head in high relief depicting a young woman or a goddess, with the hair arranged in curly locks. Plasterwork restorations on nose and chin. Provenance: English private collection, according to the heirs possibly purchased in some auction or Art Gallery during 1970s-1980s.

Roman Marble Portrait of the Young Marcus Aurelius as Hermes, ca. AD 126 - 128; height cm 22,5 (cm 34,5 with Red Imperial Porphyry stand); Outstanding portrait of Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor and Stoic philosopher (AD 161 - 180). The portrait dates back to his childhood years, as can be seen from his young cheeks, small fleshy mouth and big eyes. The hair frames the face in tiny wavy locks; on his head the Petasos, the typical hat of the God Hermes - Mercury. Provenance: French noble collection since 1960s, with an export licence issued by the Republic of France.

Roman Huge Marble Torso, 1st - 2nd century AD; height cm 50 (cm 60 with stand); wide cm 43; Exceptionally fine and realistic rendering of the lean, muscled body and the powerful curve of the back. The attitude and the rendering of the body recall the representations of Hercules. A restored scratch on abdomen; provided with an iron museal stand. Provenance: From the collection of Mr. U.C., started during 1950s in Brussels; then, collection supplemented by Diplomatic sons until the late 1990s.

This mithological creature is characterized by the typical leaf scroll which adorns the wavy hair, the pointed and curved hears, and the frowning expression. Provided with an iron museal stand. Roman Marble Herm with the Bearded Hercules, 1st century AD; height cm 49,5 (cm 65 with Iron stand); Rare herm of the bearded Hercules which, despite the state of preservation of the surface, preserve the intensitive of the depiction. The hero is portrayed at a mature age, as a philosopher, a role acquired from the beginning of the Hellenistic age as protector of mind-body exercises. A close comparison comes from the Horti Sallustiani (Gardens of Sallust), and today is exposed in the Centrale Montemartini Museum, Rome. Provided with a marble stand. Provenance: English private collection formed between 1970s and late 1990s.

Roman Marble Herm with a Sleeping Satyr, 1st - 2nd century AD; height cm 32 (cm 33,5 with Iron support); A small torso of a naked male figure, naturalistically modelled with well-defined musculature; remains of drapery over his left shoulder, which hanging oh his back, covering pilaster of the herma used as a support. The pelvis protrudes forward and the shoulders fall backwards as if the body fall without strength. This particular posture recalls the theme of the sleeping Satyr. Provided with an iron museal stand. Provenance: English private collection formed between 1970s and late 1990s.

Roman Marble Oscillum with Theatrical Mask, 1st century AD; diam cm 24; height cm 27,5 (with stand); wide cm 2,4; Circular oscillum carved on both sides: on the main one a on-profile female mask from the tragedy with an aquiline nose and a pointed chin; on the rear side, a running rabbit. Both sides are characterized by a smooth edge, slightly lifted. Slightly porous surfaces; provided with plexiglass stand. Provenance: English private collection formed between 1970s and late 1990s.

The animal is naturalistically carved, as visible by its body slendered powerful, with visibly defined rib-cage. Provided with an iron museal stand. Roman Marble Panther Holding Cista, 1st - 3rd century AD; height cm 12; length cm 12,5; Extraordinary fragment of a inlaid marble panther, with a cista between its paws. A sequense of holes runs all over the body of the animal, usually it was used as comparment for glass or gemstones. Provenance: English private collection, Kent.

Group of Three Roman Marble Fragments of Statues; 1st century BC - 1st century AD; height max cm 15, length max cm 11; Proconnesian marble: a face, a drapery and a knee. Provenance: Collection returned by the German Judicial Authority to Herakles Numismatik und Antiquitäten GmbH (München), who acquired it on the European art market since the 1970s; from 2000s the entire collection is located in the United Kingdom; some objects of this collection were bought subsequently by the Italian Government (e.g.: bari.repubblica.it - Archeologia, torna in Puglia la stele dauna di oltre 2.500 anni fa: presa all'asta con una colletta). Almost all objects need restoration, if well executed will be an excellent investment, also a good exercise for scientific or academic purposes. Lot sold as seen, no returns.
